Robert joined Nexia BT in 2009 as a corporate service provider, were during the year 2013 he was promoted as a manager within the Corporate Service Department of Nexia BT.
Robert graduated and became an affiliate of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2009. He has over sixteen years’ experience in the accountancy environment. Apart from his experience at Nexia BT, Robert was responsible for the financial and management aspect of a small family run business.
During his employment with Nexia BT, Robert is responsible for a number of small and medium-sized groups of companies mainly trading in the property for development industry, which apart from the compliance aspect also aids in consultancy, banking relations, tax compliance and strategic issues of clients within the Corporate Services Department of Nexia BT, and also that of onboarding clients seeking a specialist ad-hoc financing requests and tax compliance services. Ryan is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants having graduated from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He started his career in a medium-sized firm where he handled a solid local-based clientele and an international client portfolio. Ryan then moved to well-recognised local groups of companies. As head financial controller, Ryan directly coordinated mergers, acquisitions, start-ups and joint ventures both with international investors and with local business partners. During this time, Ryan managed a combination of specific-designed projects for local clients and large scale projects which at times had an international dimension.
Ryan joined Nexia BT in 2016 and has directly been involved in assisting our clientele in reaching the clients full potential by maximizing the short term skills into the long term goal.
Ryan’s personal experience also involves restructuring plans, internal controls and VAT consultancy. Directly specialising in a niche approach to businesses in achieving the required financial aid to sustain business investment.

Brendan joined Nexia BT in 2012 as a junior accountant within the local client services department. He rose through the company's ranks and now holds a managerial position within Nexia BT Advisory Services Ltd. He manages a team of dynamic professionals and leads an extensive portfolio of local clients offering a wide range of services ranging from the upkeep of book of accounts, VAT compliance, financial management reporting, operational performance analysis as well as financial controlling services. His excellent time management and leadership skills ensure that the clients' needs are met in an efficient and timely manner.

Melvyn graduated in Management with Honours from the University of Malta in 2007. After finishing his studies, he was employed within the public sector where he gained considerable experience in audit related work. In 2013 he successfully finished reading for a Master of Science Degree in Financial Management from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. On 1st August 2013, he joined the Advisory Department within Nexia BT, where he currently holds the position of Senior Manager.
Melvyn is currently responsible for the coordination and management of various engagements within the advisory team relating to internal audits and first-level controls, corporate finance and operational and financial restructuring.
At Nexia, Melvyn manages internal audit engagements and setting up internal control systems in a number of industries including transportation, tourism, gaming, waste and blockchain. Melvyn also managed various operational and financial restructuring engagements, leading the implementation of business process transformation exercises, for various private clients in the catering, wholesale and retail, mechanical and engineering and logistics sectors.
At Nexia, Melvyn has also been actively involved in the development of financial models and preparation of feasibility studies, business plans and valuations for companies operating in various industries such as real estate, construction, healthcare and long-term care and hospitality. Together, with the advisory team Melvyn has been also involved in the compilation of due diligence reporting for public bonds for companies operating in the hospitality, long-term care and shipping.
Kirsten was conferred the degrees of Master in Arts in Economics in 2011 and the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics in 2007 by the University of Malta. She holds the role of Manager within the advisory services department, where she is responsible for European Union projects, economics and education engagements. Kirsten has a combined 12 years of experience in policy-making and advisory services related to small and medium-sized enterprises and EU and national assistance.
At Nexia BT, she assists clients in the development of project ideas within the parameters of the targets and objectives of the scheme in question, the write-up of market research, feasibility studies, SWOT analysis, partner searches and budgeting for the duration of the project and ultimately the drafting of applications.
She is also responsible for economics engagements, including; cost-benefit analysis, economic impact assessments and feasibility studies for large-national-scale projects or private projects, in line with European Guidelines. Damian joined Nexia BT in 2013 and currently holds the position of a manager within the Advisory department. He is responsible for a number of engagements related to the preparation of financial model, feasibility studies and business plans, at a varying degree of complexity, from a single business undertaking to a multi-faceted one. He is involved in the valuation of a number of companies which operate in various sectors ranging from the tourism industry, retail companies and manufacturing companies.
At Nexia BT, Damian also manages various Financial due diligence reports as requested by the Malta Financial Service Authority for a public bond and also as part of the acquisition of target companies.
Prior to joining Nexia BT, Damian worked with a leading firm within the International tax department. As an assistant, Damian was involved in the various services this department offers to international clients. In July 2013 he was also seconded to the London office where he joined the Financial Crime sub-service line.

Katrin graduated in Management (Hons) in 2004 from the University of Malta. In 2005, she joined Nexia BT after completing her studies. She started off by handling various clients and over the years she acquired vast knowledge through her hands-on experience with various clients. Aaron joined Nexia BT in 2010 as an audit senior and was later promoted to senior audit manager. He has more than ten years’ experience in financial services, mainly in audit and assurance. He started his career with Deloitte Malta as an audit trainee and later he joined Nexia BT.
Aaron graduated in Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2009 and is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. In 2010, his dissertation ‘The Feasibility of Operating as an Independent Minibus Owner/Driver’ was recognised as the best dissertation in Finance and was awarded the RSM Malta prize.
As a Nexia BT senior audit manager, Aaron leads large audits engagements both in the public and private sectors. He conducts audit plans, identifying audit risk areas and formulating the appropriate audit approach. Aaron also ensures smooth conduct of audit engagements through direct communication with shareholders, managing directors and finance managers, regarding auditing procedures for their entities, while discussing and resolving audit and accounting issues as early in the audit as possible. His work has been across several industries including construction, hospitality, hotels, manufacturing, retail, shipping, agriculture, investment funds and finance leasing. His responsibilities also include preparing consolidation accounts of group companies, preparing expert’s report, assisting in the preparation of liquidation accounts and. Donatella graduated in Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2011. She joined Nexia BT in 2007 as a junior auditor during her university studies, in which period she started to gain significant experience in auditing various companies in various sectors and has also worked in the accountancy and advisory department. Donatella is a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and a warrant holder.
As an audit manager, she is in charge of auditing larger companies, performing consolidations of large groups, assisting clients in any accounting issues they might have, assisting in liquidation accounts, organising and overseeing audits in accordance with the annual audit plan and managing a team of auditors.
She also worked on auditing non-statutory audit engagements. She worked in both public and private sector including the auditing of co-operatives, foundations, local councils, corporations, clubs, voluntary organisations, trusts, manufacturing, retail, hotels, shipping, construction, property development, aviation, hospitality, agriculture, investment funds, gaming and finance leasing. She leads several audits for both local and international clients. She conducts audit plans, identifying audit risk areas and formulating appropriate audit approach. Donatella also ensures smooth conduct of audit engagements through direct communication with those charged with governance regarding auditing procedures for their entities. John joined Nexia BT in January 2017 to assume the position of Head of Compliance of the Group. In such a position John focuses mostly on AML/CFT compliance while assisting the MLRO with the client onboarding procedures of the Group. In May 2018 he also took on the position of Data Protection Officer.
John has over 10 years of experience within the financial services industry in compliance, MLRO, Directorships of collective investment schemes, FX trading, Hedging, and investment advice. He graduated with Honours in Banking & Finance in 2008 and achieved a Master of Science in Banking & Finance in 2015 where he was awarded an Honors Roll by the University of Malta and best dissertation award by the Malta Stock Exchange. In July 2018, John was the first Maltese resident to be awarded two qualifications in Data Privacy by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) being the Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
As Nexia BT’s Head of Compliance, John manages a team of compliance professionals to ensure the Group adopts the best AML/CFT compliance standards. John also assists the Partners in Data Privacy related matters. Russell started his career when he joined Nexia BT in 2014, maintaining a multi-dimensional role within the firm. Having gained valuable experience through his significant involvement in the legal, tax and immigration teams, he currently serves as a Supervisor within Nexia BT's International Client Services Department.
With over 5 years’ experience in Malta’s HNWI programmes, Russell supervises the immigration team, whilst providing legal and technical support. He also assists with offering specialist advice to Private Clients on their citizenship, residence and general immigration requirements. This includes assistance with ancillary matters related to real estate and investment in Malta.
Russell graduated as Master of Advocacy in 2017 and obtained a Professional Certificate in Taxation in the same year. He was subsequently admitted to the Maltese Bar in 2018 and is a member of the Chamber of Advocates and Malta Institute of Taxation.firstname.lastname@example.org
Olga joined Nexia BT in 2014 and is currently acting as the Assistant Manager of the International Client Services department coordinating the work of 14 people on a daily basis.
Overseeing completion and submission of clients’ citizenship and residence applications and assisting clients with various complex issues is Olga’s chief responsibility. Her responsiveness, client-focused approach and business development experience allow her to find a tailored solution for every situation. Olga also excels at creating a structured and supportive environment within the department so that the employees can live up to their full potential.
Olga holds a Master’s Degree in psychology from the Sumy State Teacher’s Training University named after A.S. Makarenko in Ukraine and has since furthered her education with certificates in Accounting from the Malta Institute of Accountants, Maltese Company Law from the Institute of Legal Studies and Maltese Tax System from RCA Belfast to enhance the efficiency of her work and satisfaction of the clients.

Clinton joined Nexia BT in 2017 as an Accounts Manager within the International Client Services department. He leads a dedicated team of professionals, where the main areas of focus are accounting and VAT compliance.
He is responsible for the quality, coordination and timely delivery of management accounts, annual accounts, VAT reporting and all other accounting information for management. He is also strongly involved in the mentoring and training of junior to senior accounts staff, providing them with individual attention both to empower them and to enhance the team’s capabilities.
Prior to joining Nexia BT, Clinton held a similar managerial position with a mid-tier audit firm, which also included an extensive portfolio of local clients. Out of his ten years’ experience in financial services, Clinton spent the first five years working mainly in audit and assurance, being also involved in tax compliance. During this period, he gained invaluable experience through statutory audits of clients operating in various industries such as retail, construction, manufacturing and hotel. This audit and tax compliance background helps Clinton to provide a better service to the firm’s clients, enabling him to approach matters with a more holistic view.
After achieving the ACCA qualification in 2014, he continued his studies through certificates in specific interest areas, to further strengthen his understanding and competencies. He has completed a Diploma in VAT Compliance and an Award in Leadership and Management and is currently completing a Diploma in IFRS. Katya joined Nexia BT in 2010, leading the International Corporate Service Department where she was responsible for setting up the new companies, the opening of personal and corporate bank accounts, completion of vat returns, preparation of financial statements up to audit stage and liquidations. She also assisted in the Compliance Department, including drafting of AML policies of the company and providing AML training of all staff members.
Katya graduated as a Certified Public Accountant in 2006. After finishing her studies, she joined one of the big audit firms in Malta where she was involved in the audit of various companies ranging from small private companies, hotels, manufacturing and insurance companies. In 2007 she also seconded eight months in Cyprus, while in October 2008 she was spent another five months working in New York.
Presently she heads the International Corporate Service Department mainly specialising in setting up the new companies, secretarial work and assisting clients with corporate governance matters.
In 2011 she obtained a Diploma in Financial Services Operations and Compliance and a further Diploma in Vat Compliance in 2018. She is currently a fellow Member of the Malta Institute of Accountantskatya.email@example.com
Antoinette joined Nexia BT’s tax advisory services arm in 2010 and since she built up the tax advisory arm of the firm. She is now a director within the firm.
Antoinette is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated with honours in Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2007. She holds a Diploma in Taxation and a Diploma in VAT compliance and is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and of the Malta Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.
Antoinette has always worked in the field of taxation and has over 10 years of experience in tax advisory services. Since graduating in 2007, Antoinette has always been involved in Indirect and Direct tax matters first by joining a medium-sized firm. She assists clients in tax negotiations and in obtaining advance revenue rulings and tax confirmations from the tax authorities and is also involved in advising a number of multinational companies, financial institutions, funds and high-net-worth individuals and is often involved in cross-border and local financing transactions and firstname.lastname@example.org
Stephanie Bianco graduated from the University of Malta in Accountancy with honours and is a Certified Public Accountant. She also holds a Diploma in Taxation and a Diploma in VAT compliance and is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. Currently, she is a manager within Nexia BT’s tax advisory arm and is involved in direct and indirect taxation advisory matters and also assists clients in the restructuring of their business as well as in succession planning. Anton holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from Henley Business School, and a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Computing and Information Systems from the University of London. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a professional member of ISACA.
Anton has been involved in the IT industry for more than 20 years and also has extensive practical business experience gained in various senior management roles within the FMCG industry. In 2015, Anton joined Nexia BT, wherein, due to his technical background, he managed projects that involved IT system selection, implementation and system controls. He is also a registered lead auditor with the Malta Gaming Authority and as an approved service provider, leads systems and compliance audit engagements of gaming companies. He is also lead auditor for security audit engagements in line with the requirements of the UK Gambling Commission namely based on the ISO 27001 standard.
Anton has also been heavily involved in the blockchain industry for the last four years and today focuses primarily on this industry. His hands-on experience developing systems using various programming languages such as C++, Java and VB.net coupled with his experience as a systems auditor, gives him the capability to deeply understand the technical conceptualisation behind blockchain technologies. Anton’s technical experience combined with his years of business experience, enables him to understand the technical and financial feasibility of blockchain projects and therefore evaluate the potential success or failure of such projects at their early stage.
