    Malta is considered to be the European hub for remote gaming and through the years has established itself as a serious and well-regulated European jurisdiction within this sector. The reputation, gathered together with the favourable licence costs and tax regime, continues to make Malta the jurisdiction of choice for gaming operators.

    The root of this is highly attributed to the Remote Gaming Regulations which were published in April 2004, placing Malta as the first member state of the European Union to regulate remote gaming.  Remote gaming in Malta is regulated by the Remote Gaming Regulations 2004 issued under the Lotteries and Other Games Act 2001 (“LOGA”).

    Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is the single regulatory body for both land-based and remote gaming activities in Malta. Malta hosts over 400 licences for remote gaming operations which are held amongst over 250 companies.
