On the 14th March, the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr Robert Abela announced several Income-Tax, VAT and Social Security measures aimed at assisting companies that are the most impacted by the current situation. He added that this is the first package of measures to take care of businesses, particularly those involved in Tourism, Hospitality, Transport and Manufacturing, which had been hardest hit by the Coronavirus problem.
Below are the measures announced:
- Postponement of the March and April payments of:
- Social security contributions;
- VAT; and
- Provisional Tax.
- Refund scheme on expenses incurred by those who invested in teleworking schemes to allow their employees to work from home. Know more about the Teleworking Grant Scheme's application process.
We shall be keeping you updated on the above measures, including the date by when the aforementioned payments will become due, which shall be announced at a later date, and also the methodology for application for the refund scheme.
