Nexia BT is proud to announce a 2.5-hour course titled: Income Tax, VAT and licensing requirement on income from renting immovable property… Options and Opportunities.
Throughout the session, Antoinette Scerri and Stephanie Bianco shall analyse the concept of taxation of rental income from immovable property with particular emphasis on the option of taxation of such income and the rules thereof. The seminar shall also discuss the vatability or otherwise of rental of immovable property in terms of the Maltese VAT Act (Cap 406 of the Laws of Malta) based on the amendments in the Malta Travel and Tourism Services Act in relation to license requirements.

Antoinette is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated in Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2007. She holds a Diploma in Taxation and a Diploma in VAT compliance and is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and of the Malta Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.

Graduated in accountancy with honours in 2011, Stephanie is currently a supervisor within the tax department. Joining Nexia BT after finishing her studies, she is now involved in the preparation and reviews of tax computations as well as assisting in various compliance and restructuring issues.

The first half of the session will focus on the taxation of rental income from immovable property – the options available. After a short coffee break, the course will shift towards the VAT on rental income from immovable property and answer the question: When is a license required and when rent is subject to VAT?
